PLAUD Note vs NotePin: choose calls or hands-free capture
These two recorders use the same PLAUD transcription service, so the decision is mostly physical: Note handles phone calls and meetings; NotePin is lighter and easier to wear during face-to-face work.

That distinction matters more than small specification differences. Note includes dual-mode call and in-person recording. NotePin has no vibration pickup sensor and does not support phone-call recording, but its 16.6 g wearable body is easier for interviews, field visits and walk-and-talk meetings.

The difference you will notice every day
PLAUD Note stays with the phone
Note is a thin card-sized device designed to attach magnetically to a phone or sit on a table. Its dedicated call-recording mode uses a vibration pickup component to capture phone audio. If client calls, sales calls or remote interviews are the reason you want a recorder, this is the practical choice.
NotePin stays with the person
NotePin is closer to a wearable microphone. PLAUD supplies pin and clip options, and additional wearing styles are available. It is the better fit for a site visit, conference, classroom, medical round or walk-and-talk conversation where reaching for a phone would interrupt the moment.
Which one records better in a room?
Both products are advertised with two MEMS microphones and an effective range of up to three meters. That does not mean every voice three meters away will transcribe cleanly. Background noise, overlapping speech, clothing over the microphone and speaker movement all affect the result.
For a seated meeting, Note can lie on the table without wear-position variability. NotePin may be closer to the wearer but farther from everyone else. In a one-to-one interview, either can work; in a group, device placement matters more than the name on the box.
Battery and storage
PLAUD lists 64 GB of local storage for both devices. Note has the larger battery claim: up to 30 hours of continuous recording and 60 days standby, compared with 20 hours and 40 days for NotePin. Either is enough for a normal workday, but Note gives more margin for travel or multi-day events.
NotePin can upload to the cloud while charging, which suits an end-of-day dock routine. Note uses Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi transfer. Battery figures are manufacturer claims and will vary with transfer, environment and battery age.
The AI subscription is the same decision on both
Both devices work with the PLAUD app and share the same plan structure. Current terms include 300 transcription minutes per month on Starter, 1,200 minutes on the annually billed Pro plan, and a higher-priced Unlimited option. Hardware choice does not remove the need to estimate monthly recorded minutes.
If you only record occasionally, test a phone app before buying either device. Dedicated hardware earns its place when the capture button prevents missed conversations or saves repeated setup time.
Who should buy each device?
Buy PLAUD Note if:
- Phone calls are part of the job.
- You work mainly at a desk or meeting table.
- You want longer advertised battery life.
- You prefer attaching the recorder to a phone.
Buy NotePin if:
- Your conversations happen face-to-face and on the move.
- You want hands-free recording.
- Low weight matters more than maximum battery life.
- Apple Find My support is useful to you.
Our recommendation
PLAUD Note is the safer default because it covers both meetings and phone calls. NotePin is the more specialized—and potentially more convenient—choice for people whose work is almost entirely in person. Do not choose on aesthetics alone; choose based on where the device will sit during the conversation.
