Helium 10 Free Plan 2026: What You Can Actually Do Before Paying

Helium 10 still offers a $0 entry point, but “free” means limited access—not the complete seller workflow. The useful question is not whether every menu is visible. It is whether the free account lets you validate the specific research task you intend to repeat.

Short answer: use the Free plan to learn the interface, try limited product and keyword research, and confirm whether the Chrome Extension fits your Amazon workflow. Do not build a recurring operating process around old limit tables. Helium 10’s current pricing page describes Free Chrome Extension access only as “limited,” while paid Platinum and above receive full access. Always treat the entitlement shown inside your own account as the final limit.

Is Helium 10 free?

Yes. Helium 10’s current public materials continue to offer a Free plan and a free sign-up path. A free account is different from an unrestricted free trial: many tools can be visible while individual searches, exports, connected data or advanced features remain limited. Helium 10’s live pricing FAQ specifically says Chrome Extension access is limited on Free and full on Platinum and higher plans.

Older Helium 10 articles publish numerical allowances for tools such as Black Box, Xray and Listing Analyzer. Those numbers are useful historical context, but they should not override the entitlement counter shown in a current account. Plan packaging changes, regional experiences can differ, and some official pages are updated at different times.

What the Free plan is good for

Job Useful free-plan test What the test cannot prove
Product research Open Black Box or the Chrome Extension for one tightly defined product idea and inspect the available columns. That you have enough searches to evaluate dozens of niches every month.
Reverse-ASIN keywords Run a limited Cerebro query on one genuinely comparable ASIN and check whether the returned vocabulary is relevant. That the allowance supports a multi-ASIN or agency workflow.
Seed-keyword research Use one commercial seed phrase in Magnet and evaluate related phrases rather than chasing the largest volume. That every search-volume estimate is exact or equally useful for your listing.
Listing workflow Explore the listing tools and map where your researched terms would be used. That Free includes all AI, synchronization or repeated optimization features.
Learning Use the interface and official Academy material to understand the workflow before paying. That watching training replaces validating demand, competition and margin.

A practical 30-minute Free-plan test

Step 1: define one decision

Write down a decision that the software must help you make—for example, “Is this exact product type worth deeper research?” Avoid a vague goal such as “find a winning product.”

Step 2: choose one comparable product

Use the same product type, pack count, audience and price band. A famous but structurally different competitor can produce impressive numbers and irrelevant keywords.

Step 3: inspect the data, not only the score

Look at the individual fields behind any summary score: search volume, organic position, competing products, price, review count and revenue estimates. A score is a sorting aid, not a purchase decision.

Step 4: save evidence before using another allowance

Record the ASIN, filters, date and useful results. Screenshots or a simple research sheet prevent accidental reruns and make it easier to compare Helium 10 with another tool.

Step 5: stop when the decision is answered

The Free plan is most useful when the test is narrow. If the first result shows that the product is irrelevant, do not consume more searches trying to force a positive answer.

Free plan vs Platinum vs Diamond

Plan Best use Current public price Main reason to move up
Free Interface and limited workflow validation $0 You need repeatable research rather than isolated tests.
Platinum Product and keyword research for a smaller seller $129 monthly, or $99/month equivalent billed yearly You need full Chrome Extension access and a recurring research workflow.
Diamond Active brands, teams, advertising and larger operations $359 monthly, or $279/month equivalent billed yearly You can identify Diamond-only features and limits that affect weekly operations.

Prices are USD before applicable taxes and were checked against the live pricing page on September 23, 2026. Diamond’s Helium 10 Ads can also carry a 2% fee on spend in Managed profiles; see our Helium 10 Ads pricing explanation.

Can a Free account connect seller data?

Helium 10’s August 2026 token-connection FAQ lists two tokens for Free, two for Platinum and ten for Diamond. That does not mean every connected-data feature is equally available on every plan. The same documentation warns that downgrading can disable excess tokens and stop new data synchronization. Connection count and feature entitlement are separate questions.

Before connecting Seller Central: read the current permissions screen, use the primary/owner account where Helium 10 requires it, and confirm which data will sync on your plan. If you later downgrade, review token status rather than assuming every connection remains active.

When should you upgrade?

Upgrade when a repeated job—not curiosity—justifies it. Examples include researching several viable products each month, running regular Cerebro and Magnet workflows, using the full Chrome Extension, tracking an active catalog or adding advertising and operational controls. Stay on Free if you are still learning terminology, have not selected a marketplace, or cannot name the weekly task a paid plan would improve.

For Platinum, remember that Helium 10’s April 2026 notice sets Cerebro plus Magnet at 100 monthly uses for affected Platinum accounts, with each ASIN in a Cerebro search counting separately. Read our Cerebro search-limit guide before treating Platinum as unlimited.

Common Free-plan mistakes

  • Using unrelated competitors: a large keyword export is not useful when the ASINs solve different problems.
  • Relying on an old limits table: confirm the current counter in your account.
  • Equating estimates with audited sales: third-party research metrics support decisions but do not guarantee demand or profit.
  • Upgrading before defining a workflow: more features do not fix an unclear product thesis.
  • Choosing annual billing too early: first verify that the tool will remain part of your weekly process.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Helium 10 Free plan unlimited?

No. Helium 10 describes Free access as limited. The precise entitlement shown inside your account should be treated as authoritative.

Does Helium 10 require a credit card for the Free plan?

Helium 10’s public getting-started material describes free sign-up without a credit card. Check the current sign-up and checkout screens before entering billing information.

Does Free include the Chrome Extension?

Yes, but the current pricing FAQ says Free access is limited. Platinum and higher plans include full Chrome Extension access for supported marketplaces.

Can I use Cerebro and Magnet for free?

Helium 10 markets limited free access to its research suite, but allowances can change. Check the live counter in your account rather than relying on an old article.

Is Helium 10 Free enough for a new seller?

It can be enough to learn the interface and validate a narrow workflow. It is unlikely to support repeated product, keyword and operating research as the business grows.

Should I upgrade directly to Diamond?

Usually not unless you can name a Diamond-only capability—such as full Ads, Helium Agent, MCP capacity, larger limits or team operations—that you will use regularly.

Sources and editorial method

We checked Helium 10’s live pricing page, its April 2026 pricing-plan article, August 2026 token-connection FAQ, current Chrome Extension FAQ language and April 2026 Cerebro/Magnet entitlement notice. Where official pages differ in detail, this guide favors the live entitlement visible in the user’s account and labels older numerical limits as potentially changeable.
